Charles de Gaulle to promote Francophonie (probably aimed more at European countries than at the African territories) tied in with the efforts at self-definition undertaken by the proponents of Negritude […]. In the Hegelian tradition of artistic theory then prevailing, Western art was felt to be in decline, as if it were becoming moribund at the end of its life cycle. In that perspective, Africa stood to offer renewed vitality to European art, and France and Belgium would be beneficiaries in a true relation of exchange with their former colonies.”[1]

Dans cette seconde partie de mon article consacré aux enjeux géopolitiques du marché du livre africain francophone, je reviens sur le contexte littéraire des années 1950. On observe en effet à cette époque un essor sans précédent de la production littéraire africaine dans l’édition française, portée par des éditeurs aux positionnements divers, tels que Présence Africaine, Le Seuil, Gallimard, et bien d’autres.
