Five African publishing houses were spotlighted this year by the prestigious BOP – Best Children’s Publishers of the YearPrize, awarded during the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Among them, Imagnary House, an independent publisher based in South Africa, was recognised as the winner for the African region.
Presented annually, the BOP Prize honours the most outstanding children’s publishers across six major world regions. Nominees are selected based on recommendations from industry professionals — including publishers, institutions, and literary organisations — who assess editorial quality, innovation, and cultural impact.
