From 24 to 26 April 2025, Garoua, in northern Cameroon, hosted the second edition of the Rencontres Internationales du Livre, a major literary event that highlighted the essential role of women in contemporary fiction.
Organised by the Alliance Française of Garoua, this large-scale literary gathering placed Chad in the spotlight, while providing a platform to explore the role and representation of women in today’s literature. The event brought together writers, publishers, intellectuals, and literature enthusiasts from across the region and beyond. Among the distinguished guests was Professor Marcelin Vounda Etoa, a committed author and publisher who actively contributed to the debates. Local administrative authorities, including the Governor of the North Region and the Regional Delegate for Arts and Culture, were also present, underlining the event’s significance for both local and regional culture.
